Born and raised in Colorado, Ms. Genereux has a natural fondness of the outdoors. It was not until attending Wyoming Catholic College, however, that Ms. Genereux really began to fall in love with backcountry adventuring. During college, she completed a National Outdoor Leadership School course, tried her hand at climbing, canyoneering, and kayaking, and spent a summer sleeping under the stars while serving as a camp counselor at Camp Wojtyla in Jamestown, CO. Still, if Ms. Genereux’s appreciation of natural beauty and adventure grew during her time at Wyoming Catholic College, so much more so did her passion for classical education.
She studied the Great Books and Latin and graduated cum laude, convinced that studying the liberal arts was both her best decision and finest achievement. After graduating, Ms. Genereux worked on a ranch in northern Wyoming, providing treatment for teenage girls struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. Eventually, Ms. Genereux realized that, as much as she loved Wyoming, she really missed Colorado and her family. She moved home and continued working in the residential treatment field. Not surprisingly, when Ms. Genereux learned about Golden View Classical Academy, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to continue working with youth while sharing her enthusiasm for classical education. She was not disappointed! Last year, Ms. Genereux particularly enjoyed her students’ enthusiasm for Latin and their eagerness to consider the philosophy behind various historical events. (Being able to help lead the 7th grade Schola was an added bonus!) Ms. Genereux is thrilled to return to Golden View for its second year.
