Mr. Summers was born in Dallas, Texas and has lived in Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Santa Fe, Chicago, and Nashville before moving to Denver. He received his BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Santa Fe, where he double-majored in philosophy and the history of science and mathematics, and double-minored in classical studies and comparative literature. While at St. John’s, he received senior awards for outstanding leadership and contributions to student athletics. Mr. Summers earned his MA in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, where he studied political and economic theory and social science research methods. Prior to teaching, Mr. Summers worked as a self-defense instructor, a boxing coach, a management consultant, and a behavioral health counselor in the juvenile justice system. To maintain his edge, Mr. Summers takes regular ice plunges, competes in jujitsu tournaments, and listens to a steady diet of 80’s and 90’s rock music.
