Mr. Friederich joins Golden View Classical Academy from the Platte Canyon School District in Bailey, CO, where he was the middle school special education teacher. As a second career special education teacher, he is in his ninth year of working with elementary, middle school, and high school students who have identified learning, emotional, and physical disabilities. His goal for all special education students is that they develop the academic and behavioral skills they will need to become enthusiastic about learning and academically independent, a process he knows will be more strongly supported in a school devoted to classical education.
Before becoming a special education teacher, Mr. Friederich spent nearly 25 years working on the frontlines of the high technology industry. He started as a communications specialist and then became a systems engineer after he taught himself how to operate the UNIX operating system. As a systems engineer, he managed the implementation of large-scale office automation systems in Fortune 1000 companies including Citicorp. He then worked as national and global OEM account manager for Wyse Technology, Logitech, and Microsoft, managing the development of technology products for large computer companies such as Apple and Hewlett-Packard before retiring and returning to his first love, teaching.
In addition to his BS in Psychology, Mr. Friederich has achieved an MBA from Regis University and his teaching license from Western State College. He is continuing his education by developing the knowledge and skills needed to help students master K-8 mathematics.
Away from school, Mr. Friederich enjoys reading history and British detective stories. In addition, he and his wife Heather travel as often as possible with recent trips to see family in New York, England, and Wales. He and Heather share four children, all of whom have left the nest with great success.
