Golden View Classical Awarded Charter Start-Up Grant and Funded with Distinction
The Colorado Department of Education just released the Start-up Grant award list for 2015-2016 and JeffCo’s Golden View Classical Academy charter school (pending approval Nov 6, 2014) has been awarded the full grant amount and “Funded with Distinction,” for a total of $645,000 over three years. This is an honor and recognition that Golden View Classical Academy is proposing a strong academic program with a solid organizational plan. The state Start-up Grant will allow Golden View Classical Academy additional funding for start-up costs, including: furniture, books, IT infrastructure, and to develop internal assessments that align with its academic program.
There were 36 charter applicants this grant cycle, and 20 were competitively selected for Start-Up Grant funding. Only 3 schools throughout Colorado, including Golden View Classical Academy, were given the “Distinction” designation.
Golden View Classical Academy is a proposed K-12 charter school looking to open in Jefferson County in the Fall 2015. The school will offer a classical, Core Knowledge program in the liberal arts and sciences. Golden View Classical is focused on replicating the success of schools like Ridgeview Classical Schools, Liberty Common School, Dennison, and D'Evelyn Jr/Sr High School.
Golden View Classical will open in south Golden and is now accepting Expressions of Interest for grades K-10 to be included on its lottery list for Fall 2015.
